Meet John Allen Blue and his wife, Maureen Byrd-Blue, proprietors of Blue-Byrd’s Haberdashery & Music. When the newlyweds began looking for a place to set up shop in 1992, they chose Maureen’s hometown of Kingston, NY. Consequently, for more than 30 years, John and Maureen have been actively involved in the Hudson Valley arts and music scene. They started their family business in “all things blues” to bring their love of American Roots music and the Blues to the community, and they proudly represent African American business owners in Upstate, NY.

Providing a platform that enables all students to lead by example through providing a message that is Informational, Motivational, and Inspirational. We cultivate new experiences for the youth to increase student success and mobility.

Who We Are: CCE is an independent non-profit community center for arts, technology, wellness and cultural education.

What We Do: We provide innovative, high-quality programs with a special emphasis on serving low income, minority and at-risk children and youth. The Center provides a wide array of classes in dance, music, fitness, theater, spoken word, computer arts technology and the visual arts.

We curate events and travel experiences that go deeper by facilitating mutual reciprocity between culture keepers and the land to cultivate an interconnected web of sustenance that transcends national borders. Our cultural production seeks to bring about unity and cultural exchange.

We believe this is done by providing our children with exciting activities, engaging & fun-loving events, interactive educational tools and appropriate entertainment.

Point God Academy operates multiple Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball teams that compete at the highest level across various states. These teams were established in response to a strong demand within our community for structured athletic opportunities. However, our focus extends beyond sports alone; we recognize the transformative power of team sports in providing structure, stability, and safety to our youth. While basketball remains a passion, our commitment lies equally in facilitating academic success.

Rise Up Kingston is a grassroots organization led by those experiencing racism, classism, and gender oppression on a daily basis. We organize to win, with our collective power, a Kingston economy that meets all of our social and environmental needs.

My work captures the interplay of light, emotion, and impermanence, urging viewers to reflect on the urgency of environmental preservation. By blending personal history, cultural legacy, and environmental awareness, I aim to honor these landscapes and inspire action to protect them for future generations.
